Nerve Pain

Nerve pain – also called neuropathic pain – is caused by nerve disease or damage to the nerves.

People suffering with nerve pain often describe it as burning, aching or similar to little electric shocks. Sufferers may also report numbness, weakness and/or pins & needles.

Nerve pain is different to other types of pain and is treated differently. It cannot usually be relived with traditional pain relief options such as paracetamol or anti-inflammatory medication. This makes it especially important that it is diagnosed correctly.

Nerve pain can be caused by a number of things including:

  • Shingles
  • Diabetes
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Post-surgical pain
  • HIV infection
  • Chemotherapy treatment

You can use your private medical insurance or pay for your Nerve Pain treatment. We offer competitive, fixed price packages as well as the ability to spread your cost with the option of 0% finance. If you are using your health insurance please do contact your insurer first for approval and let them know you’d like to be treated at One Ashford Hospital
