Having studied medicine at St Mary’s Hospital medical school, Mr Tai underwent specialist training on the highly regarded Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore, Specialist Registrar rotation. He then continued his sub specialty training in adult hip and knee replacement surgery on the prestigious year-long fellowship with the Specialist Orthopaedic Group in Sydney, Australia. During this fellowship he was trained in the latest arthroplasty techniques, including the direct anterior approach to the hip, computer navigated hip replacements and patient specific implants.

On returning to the UK, Mr Tai completed a second fellowship dealing exclusively in traumatic injuries (broken bones and soft tissues injuries) at University Hospital, Walsgrave – one of the busiest major trauma centres in the United Kingdom. Traumatic injuries remain a specialist interest, and Mr Tai is the trauma lead at his NHS hospital.

I Want Great Care, Certificate of ExcellenceMr Tai was awarded an iWantGreatCare Certificate of Excellence for the fifth year running in 2022. This is an annual award made to clinicians, clinics and surgeries who receive consistently outstanding patient feedback.

In the past he has provided on set orthopaedic advice for BBC’s “Holby City” and has even made a (very brief) cameo appearance as an Orthopaedic Surgeon!

When not working, Mr Stephen Tai enjoys spending time with my family, skiing, golf, scuba diving, music and cooking.
