Professional Profile

I studied medicine at Cambridge University (Queens’ College) and completed my clinical training at Imperial School of Medicine, qualifying as a doctor in 1998. My specialist training in Trauma and Orthopaedic surgery was on the highly regarded North-West Thames rotation in London, followed by extensive training in shoulder and elbow surgery and reconstruction, which included a fellowship in the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. I was also selected for a prestigious year-long advanced training fellowship working with one of the world’s leading surgeons, Professor Pascal Boileau, in Nice, France.

I was subsequently appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust where I now work based at the Lister Hospital in Stevenage and Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Welwyn Garden City. In addition to my clinical work, for which I have been awarded Clinical Excellence Awards, I am the Deputy Clinical Director and am also responsible for the supervision and training of the senior trainees.
I am a member of the Hertfordshire Orthopaedic Centre and my private practice is based at One Hatfield Hospital, Spire Harpenden Hospital and Pinehill Hospital, Hitchin.

Personal Profile

I was born and raised in West London and was a a scholarship pupil at St Paul’s School, where I also played rugby and swam for the School. I was awarded a Leaver’s prize for achieving the best grades of the year and went on to study at Cambridge University where I took up rowing, which became my main sport. I went on to row for Imperial College, unfortunately losing to Yale university in the Final of Henley Royal Regatta!
I now live in Harpenden with my wife Kim and three children. When opportunity and time allows, I enjoy skiing, playing golf and following the progress of the England rugby team.

Research Interests

I have published several research papers, presented my work at national and international conferences and have been awarded a MD Higher Research degree from the University of London. I am also responsible for teaching higher surgical trainees surgery for shoulder and elbow disorders and trauma and am a faculty member and lecturer on courses held to teach advanced surgical techniques.
