Professional Profile

Mr Paolo Consigliere trained in Milan, Italy and London and became a fully trained trauma and orthopaedic surgeon in 2015. Due to his specific interest in upper limb surgery and trauma, he completed two fellowships in shoulder and elbow; one at the Rowley Bristow Unit, Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS FT and one at the Reading Shoulder Unit, Royal Berkshire Hospital NHS FT (2015-2017). He acquired exceptional technical skills completing a complex trauma and limb reconstruction fellowship at St George’s University Hospital NHS FT (2018). He was appointed as a consultant in 2019 and worked in several renowned units before stabilising at the East Kent Hospitals University in 2022.

Mr Consigliere is committed to furthering the development of shoulder and elbow surgery and education in the UK and thus has been very active from a research and education point of view, over the years. Mr Consigliere works at the Kent and Medway Medical School, as an Associated Lecturer and is Director of Clinical Research at the Reading Shoulder Unit and Research Lead for the East Kent Hospitals University NHS FT.

Mr Consigliere has extensively published in upper limb and trauma fields, with more than 40 publications in peer reviewed journals and co-authored several book chapters. Mr Consigliere is faculty member of advanced training courses for shoulder and elbow replacement surgery and arthroscopic surgery and teaches established surgeons throughout Europe. Over the years Mr Consigliere was awarded several prizes and was travelling fellow for the European Society for Surgery to the Shoulder and Elbow and AO trauma Foundation: he had the opportunity to experience first hand and learn about other healthcare systems and discuss upper limb and trauma care with some of the most renowned surgeons.
