Consultant Paediatrician Specialising in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine and Asthma
Dr Nwokoro is primarily interested in the health and wellbeing of children and their families and will not address a clinical problem without consideration of the wider medical, social and emotional context.
Alongside a breadth of general paediatric experience he has specific expertise in:
- Childhood asthma and wheezing disorders,
- Chronic cough,
- Frequent respiratory infections,
- Snoring and sleep-disordered breathing,
- Extra-oesophageal reflux disease,
- Chronic aspiration,
- Allergy and hay fever,
- Cystic fibrosis
- Noisy breathing and laryngomalacia
He also provides medicolegal opinions within his expertise.

Dr Nwokoro sees young patients from birth onwards.
“Dr Chin” (to his patients) is a consultant paediatrician GMC-certified in paediatrics and paediatric respiratory medicine. After medical school in Cambridge he trained at Great Ormond Street, St Mary’s, The Royal London and back to Cambridge before completing his doctoral thesis at Barts and the London School of Medicine.
A competent and sympathetic general paediatrician, he is head of children’s asthma and chronic lung disease at Barts Health NHS Trust and leads the North East London STP community asthma improvement programme.
An honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at Queen Mary University of London, he teaches undergraduate medical students and supervises BSc programmes. He has taught in Sudan on behalf of the RCPCH and the Egyptian and Sudanese Medical Associations. He is joint course director of the ‘Lung in Childhood’ London Paediatric Respiratory Medicine training programme and also teaches on general paediatric courses at Ealing, Whitechapel, the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.
He is happy to assess and treat all manner of paediatric concerns, with additional authority in diseases of the respiratory tract, and is happy to provide medicolegal advice in this context if required.

Dr Nwokoro was born in Leeds, moving to London aged 9. He studied at Haberdashers’ Aske’s school in Elstree before reading Medicine (also sprint hurdling and singing in a funk band) in Cambridge. He is settled in Hertfordshire with his wife and two young children and enjoys road cycling, skiing, writing and medicine. He is involved in campaign efforts to reduce air pollution around schools and elsewhere.
An accomplished clinical triallist, in 2018 Dr Nwokoro was awarded his Doctorate degree for his thesis entitled: “the role of arachidonic acid 5-lipoxygenase promoter polymorphism in response to montelukast in preschool wheezing children”. He has published research in journals including The Lancet Respiratory Medicine, The British Medical Journal, The European Respiratory Journal, Archives of Disease in Childhood, Thorax and Paediatric Respiratory Reviews on topics such as preschool wheeze, air pollution and lung health, cystic fibrosis and eicosanoid biology and has spoken at national and international conferences including the John Price Respiratory Conference, Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health Spring Meeting, the European Respiratory Society Summer Meeting and the American Thoracic Society Conference.
