Arm Lift Surgery

Arm lift surgery (Brachioplasty) is a type of cosmetic surgery designed to alter the shape of your arms.  Patients who choose to undergo the procedure often have loose or baggy skin around the upper arms.

Arm lift surgery should not be used as an alternative to weight loss.  The procedure is best suited to patients who are close to their healthy weight but are nonetheless unable to lose baggy skin through exercise and diet.  Your doctor will inform you if Brachioplasty is suitable for your body.

The Brachioplasty procedure is a surgical operation that takes roughly 90 to 120 minutes and is usually performed under general anaesthetic.  Your surgeon will assess the most appropriate place to make an incision in your arm.  After making the incision, your surgeon will remove segments of skin and fat, then reclose the tissue leaving your arm looking tighter and smoother.

Patients who undergo the Brachioplasty procedure should be able to return home after 1 or 2 days.  You should be able to return to normal activities after about 2 weeks.  During the recovery process your doctor will recommend a course of medication for pain relief and you will need to wear a body contouring garment to aid the healing process.  Brachioplasty is a major surgical procedure and will produce permanent scars on your arms, but these will fade over time.

Regular exercise will help you return to normal as quickly as possible.  Before beginning a course of exercise consult with your medical team for advice.

You can’t usually use your private medical insurance for cosmetic surgery but you can pay directly for your Arm Lift Surgery treatment. We offer competitive, fixed price packages as well as the ability to spread the cost of your treatment over a number of months. If you are able to use your health insurance, please contact your insurer first for approval and let them know you’d like to be treated at One Hatfield Hospital.
