Coronavirus Advice

Your upcoming appointment/admission to One Hatfield Hospital

Important Information on Coronavirus

As the situation with coronavirus continues to develop, we are keeping our advice and information up to date to ensure the safety of our patients, staff and the consultants that work with us.

Please read guidance below ahead of visiting our hospital.

What are the symptoms?

The new Coronavirus, which originated in Wuhan, China, causes flu-like symptoms including a fever, a cough, shortness of breath or breathing difficulties.

Can I visit One Hatfield Hospital?

If you have any of the symptoms above, we ask that you do not visit our hospital.  If you do not have any symptoms, but have travelled recently, we ask that you follow the advice from Public Health England (PHE) below:

Category 1:

  • Wuhan City and Hubei Province
  • Iran
  • Daegu or Cheongdo (Republic of Korea)
  • Any Italian town under containment measures

Travellers should self-isolate, even if asymptomatic (symptom free), and use the 111 online coronavirus service (https://111.nhs.uk/covid-19) to find out what to do next.

Go home or to your destination and then self-isolate.

Category 2:

  • Cambodia
  • China (except Category 1 areas)
  • Hong Kong
  • Italy (north)
  • Japan
  • Laos
  • Macau
  • Malaysia
  • Myanmar
  • Republic of Korea (except Category 1 areas)
  • Singapore
  • Taiwan
  • Thailand
  • Vietnam

Travellers do not need to undertake any special measures, but if they develop symptoms, they should self-isolate and call NHS 111.

The guidance for Italy, Iran, Daegu or Cheongdo (Republic of Korea), Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia and Vietnam applies to individuals who returned from these specific areas on or after 19 February 2020.

While we have a full range of medical services, we ask that you do not visit our hospital if you are symptomatic, as we do not have the specialist infectious disease units that may be needed for your onward care. The NHS and PHE have an established plan to respond to someone who becomes unwell and are best placed to coordinate your care.

If you have any concerns or questions then please complete a contact form and we will respond as quickly as we can. If the matter is pressing, please contact the hospital on 01707 862 925 to speak to a member of staff.
