Paediatrics: Understanding Infant Feeding (CPD)

6th October 2021 Virtual

Join Dr Vinit Shah, Consultant Paediatrician at One Ashford Hospital for a virtual educational event on Wednesday 6th October at 7:00pm on Understanding Infant Feeding.

Breastfeeding has huge health benefits to both mother and baby, but many women often give up breastfeeding in the early weeks when they encounter problems; not because they want to, but because they haven’t been given enough support. Medical practitioners may not receive enough training in managing breastfeeding problems and at times, may provide advice that is inappropriate or unhelpful.

The seminar is for healthcare professionals who have contact with pregnant women and new mothers. It aims to provide information on breastfeeding which will enable you to:

  • Understand the normal patterns of breastfeeding
  • Appreciate the GPs role in supporting breastfeeding
  • Learn how and where to signpost for support
  • Discuss the management of common breastfeeding problems presenting in primary care

Dr Shah will also talk on tongue tie, including indications, contraindications and complications.

This is an interactive seminar and we encourage you to engage in debate with Dr Shah and your peers. You are invited to bring your own case studies for discussion.

The event will be held virtually, from 7:00pm – 8:00pm on Wednesday 6th October, and you will be sent an invite with joining details prior to the event. Please be aware that bookings will close at 1:00pm on Tuesday 5th October.
