Mr Tofunmi Oni

Professional Profile

Mr Tofunmi Oni is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in hip and knee surgery, including arthritis of the hip and knee as well as soft tissue injury to the knee. In addition to his private practice at One Ashford Hospital, he is also a Consultant at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust.

Mr Tofunmi Oni undertook his medical undergraduate training at the University of Warwick and his post graduate training was in the Kent Surrey and Sussex rotation. On completing and achieving his status as Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, Mr Tofunmi Oni went on to complete a Hip and Knee Arthroplasty Fellowship in Sydney Australia, working with world renowned surgeons, honing his skills while learning advanced techniques and computer assisted and robotic assisted surgery.

Mr Oni has a passion for hip and knee surgery and continually strives to increase precision and outcomes of surgery. He is also a keen advocate for optimal discharge timing to facilitate rapid recovery after hip and knee surgery.

Mr Tofunmi Oni currently lives in Kent with his wife and two children. He has a keen interest in all things fitness which he sees as his own form of mindfulness.

Hip Arthritis – What You Need to Know

The hip joint is a ball-and-socket joint that allows movement and provides stability that is needed for the body to weight bear through. The socket area, also known as the acetabulum is inside the pelvis and this is linked to the ball at the top of the thighbone (femur).
