Mr Read sees young patients with hand and wrist concerns from 4 years old onwards.
Professional Profile
Mr Read trained at Charing Cross & Westminster Medical school, where he gained
not only his medical qualification but also a BSc in pharmacology. After medical school he
recieved basic surgical training in the St Peters Hospital rotation and then proceeded to
undertake an MSc in Sports Medicine.
Following his MSc he continued his general orthopaedic training in the South West Thames
orthopaedic rotation. He received specialist training in hand surgery as a hand fellow at the
Middlemore Hospital, New Zealand and South Pacific regional hand unit. Here he worked
with both orthopaedic and plastic surgeons and gained extensive experience in treating both
elective problems and traumatic hand injuries, including micro vascular repair and tendon
injuries. This training was further enhanced with a second specialist hand fellowship at
University College Hospital in London.
Mr Jeremy Read is an orthopaedic consultant at the West Hertfordshire Hospital Trust, where
he specialises in treating hand and wrist problems, as well as treating general orthopaedic
trauma. He provides outpatient treatment at Watford General Hospital & Hemel Hempstead
Hospital.
Mr Jeremy Read is experienced in treating both common and complex hand and wrist
problems including carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger fingers, Dupuytren’s contracture including
Percutaneous Needle Fasciotomy, Kienbock’s disease, lunate replacement surgery and all
degenerative and post traumatic problems.
Personal Profile
Outside of work I like to spend time with my young family enjoying outdoor pursuits. I am also interested in stereoscopic photography and try to play the guitar!
