Mr Jacques Roux
Consultant Urologist and Laparoscopic Surgeon
I am fascinated by the dawn of a new era in prostate cancer diagnostics. The amount of change brought on by cutting edge research is exciting and is already having a significant impact on clinical practice.
I perform laparoscopic kidney surgery for benign and malignant conditions.
I also perform laser prostate surgery (HOLEP) for men with voiding difficulties due to an enlarged prostate.
I see patients who are interested to learn about the prevention and management of kidney stones.
Laparoscopy and Endourology
I completed my medical degree in South Africa and worked in Namibia and the Western Cape as a junior doctor. I did my Urology training in North London and was appointed at West Hertfordshire NHS Trust as an Urological and Laparoscopic Surgeon in 2014. I enjoy my work and find it extremely rewarding when able to improve may patients health and well being. I am conscious to allow enough time to listen and go through all the potential management options with patients and will tailor a treatment plan according to their needs.
I live in St Albans with my wonderful wife and 4 boys. I am an assistant leader at our local cub scouts. I enjoy mountain biking, golf and watching rugby and cricket when possible.
I have been a primary investigator for a phase 2 clinical trial in the use of Botox for overactive bladder. I have published work on idiopathic detrusor over activity, partial nephrectomy and safety in positioning during robotic surgery. I am an advocate for men’s health and do regular talks to GP’s on urological men’s health related issues.
