Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon
Mr. Harish Parmar is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon. He was trained in Leicester and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore, and undertook a fellowship in Switzerland. He has been a consultant for 27 years.
Mr Parmar qualified from London University and undertook his orthopaedic training as a registrar and lecturer in Leicester. Subsequently, he was appointed a senior registrar at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore. Afterwards, he became a senior lecturer and honorary consultant at Stanmore before moving to East Hertfordshire.
He has a special interest in hip replacement for younger patients, which relates to his overall interest in managing sports injuries and early degenerative joint disease in athletes.
Mr. Parmar has expertise in the following areas:
- Hip replacement
- Knee replacement
- Arthroscopy of the knee (“Keyhole surgery”)
- Resurfacing of damaged joint surfaces

I qualified at London University and received my orthopaedic training as a registrar and lecturer in Leicester. Following this training, I was appointed senior registrar at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, in Stanmore.
My practice now addresses hip and knee replacement and knee arthroscopy. I have a particular interest in the treatment of hip disease in younger adults, who many consider too young for hip replacement.
I have a particular interest in hip replacement in younger patients. This is in keeping with my overall interest in the management of sports injury and early degenerative joint disease in athletes.
I was a senior lecturer and honorary consultant at Stanmore, before moving to East Hertfordshire.
