Dr Jayshri Shah is a Consultant Hepatologist and Gastroenterologist with extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of liver and digestive disorders. Certified as an Emotional Intelligence Consultant through Six Seconds, she combines clinical expertise with a compassionate, patient centred approach to care, so patients feel warm, supported and informed through their treatment journey. Professional Profile
Dr Shah is a senior Consultant with over 20 years of clinical experience in both India and the UK.
Dr Shah completed her medical degree at the University of Mumbai, India in 1996, followed by her specialist training in gastroenterology and hepatology. She was awarded her MD and Diplomate of National Board (DNB) in 2001 from T. N Medical College, Mumbai, India. She also became a Member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences, India in 2001. She later relocated to the UK and was awarded her Membership(MRCP) and Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians London (FRCP).
Dr Shah received her Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training(CCST) in 2009 and was appointed as a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist at St James' University and Leeds General Infirmary Hospital. In 2010, she moved back to India and practiced as a Consultant Gastroenterologist, Hepatologist and Therapeutic Endoscopist at several hospitals in Mumbai, India. She moved back to the UK in 2018 where she was appointed as Hepatology Lead, Upper GI Cancer and Clinical Governance Lead at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust until February 2023.
Dr Shah has numerous publications and presentations in national and international meetings. She has supported and continues to facilitate Hepatology research as Principal Investigator in various trials. Dr Shah has organised Hepatology Training meetings at Local and Regional level and has led numerous Quality Improvement Projects to improve the delivery of Liver service. She has been a Trainer for Leadership programs. She was the Hepatology Lead at St Marks Hospital between Feb 2023 and Aug 2025 and developed the Hepatology service through various quality improvement projects.
Dr Shah is a certified Emotional Quotient (EQ) assessor and EQ Consultant. The skills acquired from this help to enhance the quality of patient experience during consultation. She is passionate about Clinical Governance, hence has commenced medicolegal work as an expert witness alongside British Medical Experts to help with clinical negligence.
