Dr Chris Lawrence

Chris is a Consultant Nephrologist with an interest in transplantation. His first consultant post was at the Lister Hospital in Stevenage and he was an honorary consultant transplant physician at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge. He now works predominantly in the private sector.

Chris trained in London and in addition to his medical degree has a Bachelor’s degree in Cardiovascular science and medicine, a Master’s degree in Law, a Doctorate in transplant immunology, holds a diploma in kidney transplantation from the European Union of Medical Specilists as well as being one of the first people to be awarded the MRCP specialty certificate in nephrology. He was recently elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians

Chris is a skilled operator, performing common kidney related procedures such as ultrasound guided biopsy of native and transplant kidneys and central venous catheter insertion.

Chris brings a holistic patient-centred approach to the management of kidney diseases which could otherwise seem complicated and overwhelming.

My consultations with Dr Lawrence have been second to none . He is an exceptional doctor, showing me great personal empathy and caring. I first met with him when I had been discharged from a local hospital, and was still very unwell. Dr Lawrence organised all my follow up care… referring me to specialist colleagues as needed, and generally monitoring my progress to recovery. I am eternally grateful to him for all he did for me.

Chris Lawrence is a truly exceptional doctor, combining as he does great empathy and communication skills with deep intellectual curiosity and medical knowledge. He is genuinely interested in you as an individual and cares not only about your medical issues but also your wellbeing. His support for me during a time of Covid-19 and other transplant-related medical issues has been exemplary. I cannot recommend him as a nephrologist highly enough.

Dr Lawrence is a knowledgeable, friendly and reliable doctor. He takes the time to understand and empathise as well as explaining complicated diagnosis and treatments in an easy to understand way. The biopsy was quick and painless, with no side effects. Follow up was organised quickly and any questions I had, he was always quick to answer. He also chased up a difficult NHS referral to handle future routine follow ups. Could not recommend any enough.
