Professional Profile

Mr Slack trained in the UK and France.  He was appointed as a Consultant Surgeon in Orthopaedics and Trauma surgery in East Kent University Hospital Trust in 1995. Since that time he has gone on to develop a practice in hip replacement surgery.

 

Mr Slack’s main area of interest is revision (complex) hip replacement surgery.  He is one of the highest volume surgeons in the United Kingdom for this type of surgery. He is also well versed in a number of techniques to allow rapid rehabilitation of patients undergoing primary hip replacement surgery.

Research & Publications

Mr Slack is a member of an international development committee currently designing an un-cemented revision hip system to deal with complex femoral reconstruction.

 

He was a faculty member at St. Georges Revision Hip meeting, London 2007, presenting on his personal series of revision hip arthroplasty. He was the UK lead surgeon in the early evaluation of a modular femoral stem in total hip replacement. He was a faculty member at the Hip meeting in Bristol 2007, presenting the case for modularity in femoral stem design.

 

His is also the trustee of the East Kent Research Fund.
