Following the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic, the safety of our patients is becoming even more crucial than ever. Where previous operations were mostly performed asleep under general anaesthetic, medical advances have made it possible to now operate with patients awake during their procedure. This is carried out via injections at the top of the arm (regional block) or around the operation site (local infiltration). The direct benefit for patients is below:
